Kerman Baptist follows the Bible as the final authority in what we believe. We believe the Bible truly is God's Word to us and we do our best to interpret it accurately and follow it faithfully. Because of this foundation, everything that we believe and teach comes from the Bible.
We believe that God is eternal, all-powerful, all-knowing, and loves every person. He is the creator of the world and the one who gives purpose to our lives. The Bible reveals that He is one in essence, yet manifests Himself in three persons - the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit - each of which is fully God and in no way lesser than another.
We believe that God has created heaven as a perfect place to spend eternity with humanity, but that we sinned against God by rebelling against Him and can therefore never be good enough in our own efforts to deserve a relationship with God or an eternity in heaven. However, God loved us so much that He sent Jesus to earth to die and suffer the punishment for our sin. Anyone who accepts Jesus' gift of salvation can have their lives made new spiritually and will be given eternal life in heaven.
We hold to the distinctive Baptist principles of faith, including the Bible as our final authority, the independence of each local church, the ability of every Christian to go directly to God without a priest, the two ordinances of baptism by immersion and the Lord's supper, the responsibility of each person to choose or reject Christ for themselves, the requirement of salvation and baptism for church membership, and the two church offices of pastor and deacon.
